FIELD GUIDE / 04  ·  Make better things

Make an architectural timelapse that holds together.

The continuity trick is simple: one camera, one target, and a sequence of changes the viewer can read.

A useful read should leave you with something you can try, not just something you can repeat.

01 / The continuity rule

Lock the world before you animate it.

A construction sequence is a chain of images pretending to be one continuous place.

Choose a fixed site reference and a camera path before generating the build. Keep the horizon, landmarks, lens feel, and site boundary consistent. Every new frame should inherit the useful geometry from the previous one or from the same approved reference.

If the camera teleports or the footprint shifts, the viewer reads a glitch instead of progress. Continuity is not a finishing trick; it is the underlying design constraint.

02 / Build in readable beats

Give the eye five stages it can follow.

Each beat should feel like one cause leading to the next—not a new building appearing at random.

A useful 20-second arc moves from empty plot to foundation, structural frame, facade, then signature details and final light. Let each state add information. Keep the big change easy to read and the smaller polish until the end.

The exact duration is flexible. The principle is not: show a real transformation in an order a person understands. Use image-to-video tools for controlled motion between approved states, and inspect the transition rather than trusting a fluent prompt to protect the building.

  • 0–3s · Empty plot
  • 3–8s · Foundation and frame
  • 8–14s · Facade takes shape
  • 14–18s · Signature details
  • 18–20s · Light and finish

03 / Check the joins

The cut between stages is the stress test.

Review the transitions at full speed and frame by frame.

Look for jumps in the roofline, windows, number of storeys, neighboring buildings, landscaping, and sun direction. If one frame invents a new design, use the nearest faithful image as the next input or rebuild that stage from the locked reference.

Then finish for the format: keep any title safe areas clear, make a vertical and horizontal crop intentionally, and check that the most important reveal survives without tiny detail. Treat product names and model availability as moving parts; the production sequence is the durable skill.
